Voice of Russia Rebranded as Sputnik

Sputnik was launched as the new Russian international radio broadcaster on November 10.

Sputnik is a merger between Voice of Russia and news agency Rossiya Segonya (Russia Today), which was created last year. Sputnik says that it will ”operate in 30 languages in 2015, for a total of over 800 hours a day, covering over 130 cities and 34 countries”. The programming will be distributed via local FM stations, as well as digital DAB/DAB+, HD Radio, mobile and the Internet.

”We will provide alternative interpretations that are, undoubtedly, in demand around the world. We think that the world is tired of the unipolar point of view” said Rossiya Segonya director general Dmitry Kiselev at a presentation.
