Germany to reach 93% DAB+ coverage by 2016

Media Broadcast continues the network expansion of the national DAB+ multiplex in Germany with the aim of increasing the number of broadcasting locations from the current 61 to 110 by December 2016. The launch of the first new locations is scheduled for the autumn of this year. At selected locations, the transmission power will be increased, which boosts the range of the new digital radio from 60 to 82 percent indoors. The mobile reception coverage will grow from approximately 63 to 93 percent. With this scheduled expansion stage, Media Broadcast complies with the essential supply target of the Federal Network Agency. The locations of the individual DAB+ transmitters as well as the respective launches are currently under review and are planned to be announced in the coming months.
