Shazam Updates Features, Including Spotify Integration

Aiming to be more than just a "music identification" app, SHAZAM announced a series of developments today designed to "provide more immersive music discovery and uninterrupted listening."

Today’s update revamps SHAZAM’s mobile apps and launches a brand-new SHAZAM.COM.  Among the newly-unveiled features in the mobile apps are personalized music news and real-time trending songs from friends and artists previously SHAZAMed as well as exclusive SHAZAM SESSIONS, interviews and more. Charts have also been expanded.  The music player now allows users to rapidly surf the SHAZAM charts and rate and save tracks to hear again.  Users who subscribe to premium streaming music services (including RDIO and now SPOTIFY) can now listen to their curated playlists; Subscribers can now connect through SHAZAM to SPOTIFY using the iOS app (ANDROID will add that functionality in the coming weeks; the apps added the same functionality for RDIO earlier this year).  The website is adding a "Hall of Fame" for artists with the most searches, and each track will show the number of SHAZAMs they have had.

“We want SHAZAM to continue to serve as a destination for music fans, increasingly becoming the center of their music world,” said Chief Product Officer DANIEL DANKER. "For years SHAZAM, has identified music with just one tap. Now it’s just as easy to open SHAZAM and tap once to discover and listen to great music.”
