UK.The longest running jazz radio show, Jazz Record Requests, turns 50 next month and a special edition is planned for December 6th.
The programme has been a Saturday afternoon fixture since 1964 and to celebrate the programme’s birthday presenter Alyn Shipton will introduce listeners’ memories from all periods of the show.
There’ll be archive clips of previous presenters, including Humphrey Lyttelton, Ken Sykora, Steve Race, Peter Clayton, and Charles Fox, and a guest appearance from Geoffrey Smith, plus examples of the wide range of music played on the programme during its long life.
The special 50th birthday edition will air on BBC Radio 3, Saturday 06 December 2014, 5pm till 6pm.
